Guyer Family Update 08-13-08 04:09pm EST
I can't believe how few times I get to post on here anymore. We're so covered up these days that posting on here is nearly impossible. But, here goes...

The kids are doing really well. Malachi is 2 and shy as ever. He knows his NT books of the Bible and loves to say them. He's tall and skinny just like I was when I was a kid. Unfortunately, that all went down hill when I learned more about meat...oh well.

As for Caitlyn, she's a ton of fun. She's chunky, short, and never stops talking. She's already grabbed onto the concept of good eats and has some nice rolls to show for it.

Lisa is working very hard with me to get ready for the baby and has become and amazing wife and mother. She's done an incredible job with the kids recently and is a real blessing. Her work with the couples we're ministering to has been amazing. You'd never know she's as young as she is by the counsel she's given. Praise God for wisdom and discernment!

We've added some new stuff to the Rise of the Home site recently to help the couples we're serving on a bigger scale. We added a "Desperate for Help" page and a page for our "Couples Coaching". We're busier and busier and see the fruit of the hard work. It's a real blessing to be doing this work hand in hand with my wife.

The baby is due in November, but given the last two were born three weeks early and the frequent contractions already, it's likely we'll see our new baby boy sometime in October. Please pray for things to continue to go well.

lydiasmotherThinking of you all. My little one will be 3 in sept. and I can't stand how fast they grow. No plans for a second one yet, have to many things on my plate. Starting school again and such. I love to give Lydia the most attention before we incorporate another child, Probably will think of it about the time she goes to school would like to have "time" with the new one ya know?!
DessertDivaCongratulations on the impending arrival of your new baby boy!
neenoutGlad that you guys are doing well! We are thinking of you all and praying for you and the baby!

chariroseyyou needed pictures to go along with that!
firewoodgirlGood luck Derek. I didn't realize that Lisa was pregnant either! Wow, there are so many babies due this winter. We are due the week of Christmas! Good luck to you all!
bethebooHa! Purple People Eater
sjbI didn't realize you guys were expecting again. Congrats! How old is Caitlyn?
sjbWe are doing well. Yes, you are packin' 'em in! Three kids in as many years! Nutty. =-) There are some great things about having them close, though... relatively, they will all be in the same stages (diapers, potty training, school). Makes the first few years really tough, but gets easier from there!

Prayers needed 07-10-08 04:54pm EST
Please pray. We've had several extremely intense situations arise of the last day with Rise of the Home. These husbands and wives need the peace that comes through Christ in more ways than you could ever imagine and they're completely overwhelmed.

Pray for them to be humble and for the Spirit to lead all of it.

Thanks, guys.

BTW, Caitlyn just turned 1 on the 2nd of July and we got some great shots of her birthday. I'll try to post them later.

Battle for Men 06-26-08 03:52pm EST
I spent Sunday night breaking up a fight between a drunk husband and his scared wife and children. I've been talking with men whose wives have cheated on them regularly and who are so depressed they can't function. I meet with one man weekly who cheated on his wife and who now won't trust him for anything.

The lack of leadership in the home is scary. I just posted about it on Rise of the Home. The post is entitled Battle for Men.

pookyI just sent you an e-mail.
pookyexcellent article about the lions.
howcolwhitVery well written article! This would solve so many existing problems with the American homes, IF the leadership by the husband was in place, then the wife's obligation to her husband, and to her children observed faithfully.
chariroseywow.
curlieIt is so difficult when one or both partners will not accept their God-given responsibility. Good for you for the work you are doing.
sunnyleeoh goodness, thanks for the article
bethebooI can see why.
lisareneSo, I thought of you when I was reading her blog about Christian pickup lines. I can see you saying some of the most arrogant ones...(ie "At points in my life I have been referred to as Samson." )
lisareneI guess that's why I love you.....
lisareneI guess...
ticketshaha :o)
cdawgyou look like your cooking up a funky beat in your new picture
pistinI think your picture looks like you are listening to the NIV on cd while preparing notes for a discussion on salvation
mi_girlThats why your my Hero!(^v^)
flowerpowerThat is scary. Very brave of you. At least you are good for something.
sheldot8what do you mean? coming and seeing you?

Master Craftsman 06-18-08 09:37pm EST
I don't know if you guys have ever seen a master craftsman at work or not, but I thought I'd share this link with you. Steve Quillian is unbelievable at building custom wood doors and windows. He built a front door for a home recently that priced out at about $7k. I wrote a post about some of his stuff today for him and thought you guys might like to look at some of the pics on his blog. It's simply amazing.

He also builds custom space ship beds, princess beds, finding nemo beds and all kinds of custom wood furniture like that. It's unbelievable what he can do.

Check it out.
chariroseywow. I need that front door for my next house!
DessertDivaAmazing work!
lydiasmotherDid he go to FC?
buddabignbaldYeah, he did.
zani128Man, you actually can be nice! You realize that by posting this you were inadvertently nice to me?
lovnprayersVery cool!
wardI need someone with those kinds of skills to build me some custom bookshelves... once I have some money.
flowerpowerHi Dereeeek! How's the wife...kids?
flowerpowerAnd you, I don't want to be insensitive. :)
madtomkiddOh, so it's ok to buy things from him then, right?

(^_^)
cdawgi really need a princess bed
lydiasmotherthought so, he lives not to far from us. He used to attend Temple Terrace then moved so I had not seen him. Where does he attend now do you know? his wife was in our play group a while back.
mi_girl I"M BACK!!!!
mi_girlWEll wat do you think it means? YES!!! LOL
overtoneI just selected my running mate today...look for an announcement in a few weeks.
flowerpowerACTUALLY, I am very sensitive. You just made me cry, baldy.
flowerpowerI WAS KIDDING
flowerpowerOH MAN! You figured me out. Now what am I going to do?
pookyHow are things going on the Rise of the Home front? Are you generating the hits you hoped for? How about on the financial side (I'm not looking for amounts - just generalities). :)

Awesome Testimony 06-06-08 06:42pm EST
Over the past month, Lisa and I have been talking about asking several of the couples we've been working with to share their stories with our readers. We've talked with a few and prayed about it a lot, but had an awesome move from God's end where one couple sent us their story without us asking. In particular, the cheating wife, in this case, sent her story.

I've had the privilege of encouraging her husband through the process and am excited to see the response. Check out what we hope will be a regular piece on Rise of the Home entitled:

Testimony: Another Fallen Home on the Rise

If you would, please encourage the couple by leaving a comment. I know it's taken a lot for them to share their story and would love for this to be a point of healing for them as well.

I also posted earlier today a post called Facing the Lion that some of you may enjoy.

Have an awesome weekend!
cdawgi answered your jest
cdawgdude, i'm not mad ;P
ticketsi'll have to catch up on those posts...a lot has been going on & i'm way behind...but online isn't the priority. i'll check back soon!
cdawggreat testimonies!!
bethebooSomeone came and picked it up last night. Besides, I don't want to get a reputation as a complainer. LOL
pookyOf all of the VanHoose kids, I think that I, too, would enjoy seeing Julie change a diaper.
