I can't believe how excited I am about this movie. I've requested to only work early on Thursday, Nov. 20th, so I can go to the midnight showing and I've asked off for Friday, the 21st, so I can go see it again with anyone who's willing. So, if you're in Baton Rouge Nov. 20 or 21, and you want to go see Twilight, please let me know. I will graciously accompany you:) The more the merrier.
On a somewhat different note, I took a "smoke break" at work today. Now, I don't smoke and I'm not even remotely tempted to take up this gross habit. But I am slightly fed up with the fact that the girls at work who do smoke get a 5 to 10 minute break every hour and a half, or so, while some days I never leave the pharmacy, even for a lunch break. One girl at work, who I'm rather close to, went to smoke at 9pm, when she was scheduled to get off at 9:30pm. Does this make sense? I don't think so. So today, at around 9:20pm, I told her I was going to take a quick break before everyone else got to leave (I was scheduled until 12:30pm). And that's what I did. I went outside and sat on our bench and called my friend Nikki to chat for a few minutes. It felt wonderful.
Back to Twilight...seriously. Call me, facebook me, pleo me...whatever, if you wanna go see it. It can be like our Harry Potter tradition, which has now been postponed till next summer.
If I were in your area, I would TOTALLY go and watch Twilight with you :) I know what you mean about the "smoke breaks" when I worked at a book store my manager the audacity to say that I wasn't smoking, so I needed to get back to work. At least your manager didn't seem to care, right?
Not much going on. Was off the whole weekend so PART of my family went to Whole Foods and had a yummy lunch before shopping then we went to Barnes and Noble. Not at ALL my favorite place to go...riiiight. I bought 5 books and a white chocolate mocha.
Then we went home and caught up on watching our various recorded shows on our WONDERFUL dvr....Bones, CSI:Miami, The Mentalist, & Life(awesome!). And we're still not caught up.
Can I just say how bummed I was that there was nothing new on Thursday after 8pm? If I had known that, I would have watched Ugly Betty. But Linds, I am extremely disappointed that there's no Gio!!!
And it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I had gone to Houston for the night last Friday...August 29th...to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. It was wonderful. Unfortunately, I had to hurry back the next day in order to go to work. Walgreens was a madhouse, preparing for Gustav. Not only were we out of batteries, water, etc, people were acting crazy! Phone call after phone call, people explained to us that because of the hurricane, they had to leave and, woops! Forgot ALL of their medication, and can we please give it to them? And we HAD to. Walgreens customers or not, we gave them whatever they needed.
But the storm itself was not as scary as I was expecting. I was expecting for my family to be huddled in the hallway, listening to the howling winds, nervously waiting for it to be over. Not so. We split our time sitting in front of the tv watching the Weather Channel and going outside and watching the crazy wind terrorize our neighbors trees. Granted, being out of power was almost torture. It's amazing how spoiled we are by a/c! We were miserable.
Baton Rouge is still very much in recovery and as far as we can tell, the national news is not covering it. For almost a week, there were 6 hour long lines at the gas stations, no tarps in whole city and MREs for everyone. (Dad loves 'em, by the way.) Surrounding areas are still without power and are not expected to get it for almost a month. Please pray for these people. They'll need strength.
Our damage was small...a new roof..new food and a tree cut. We feel blessed to have a tree on the roof...6 houses on our street had trees smash into their houses. You are right about the national media...our family in Georgia was asking if Faye had been bad for BR!
And you know, my cousin has a theory that you only need to evacuate if Austin hears about the hurricane. They didn't hear about Gustav so they came to the conclusion that my grandparents in beaumont didn't need to evacuate (which was true). They heard about Ike so they should have evacuated, which they didn't. Bad!
And more specifically Jasper fans should check out http://www.mtv.com/movies. The guy who's playing in the upcoming movie is interviewed with several clips. Very cute.
