Have you ever said something completely ridiculous and somewhat inappropriate and then just couldn't stop laughing?
My office mate and I have moved to a new office. This office unfortunately houses a printer that is used by about 6 other people, so they are constantly coming in and out. The printer is circa 1988 and often jams and causes havoc among those users, and quite frankly, my office mate and I are sick of it. We have fixed the stupid thing so many times we might as well don a ricoh name tag.
Anyways, this co-worker came it to find that once again her papers did not print and exclaimed, "Did you take my papers?????!!!!"
I replied, very calmly, "Yes, I did. I ate them. So if you need them, you can find them in the bathroom later."
And I couldn't stop laughing. So she asked me to repeat myself, but realized about that time what I had said.
Good news is, she laughed pretty hard too.
I'm glad she had a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing! She probably realized what SHE said right around the same time and how silly it was for her to think you took her papers.
My favorite neighbor stopped by to bring me a basket of figs from her tree and to let me know we now have a sex offender in the neighborhood.
Yep, it was child molestation, already looked up the reason.
We don't have children but I'm still freaked out.
And I find it annoying that the bus stop had to change. I think he should have to move instead.
Does anybody have any good recipes using figs? Otherwise I fear the fruit flies will devour them.
As far as figs...sorry can't help you on that one! As far as child molesters my thoughts are that if they castrate him there won't be a problem anymore. Some say that's tough but taking the innocence from a child is MUCH toughter. I don't know why the courts protect the rights of someone who is taking the rights of someone else. I could go on and on about this for a while but I won't!
We enjoyed being with you guys when you were here. Alittle bummed it was only for a couple hours but we did get to see you and meet your hubby so that's what counts right?!?!
I do know that!!!! If we are ever up there we will stop by. I know what you mean about not wanting to do anything but rest. On our vacation a month ago the nearest church was an hour away and we arrived on Sunday pm for worship there (we all went to our own churches for the am) and then on Wednesday night we went there. It was hard getting us all fed and cleaned up and out the door but we did it. We were about 10 minutes late but all things considered I think we did pretty good! So I know what you mean. Since there are 11 of us (and next time we go in 2 years there might be 1 or 2 more of us!) I'm thinking we should just have worship at our house.
Unfortunately there are so many sickos out there I guess they couldn't make all of them move. But at least they should put big red X's on all the doors and windows and he should have to wear an orange jumpsuit with "incredibly disgusting excuse for a human being, do not approach" in black letters on the back.
Um, what happened to June?
My life is really whizzing by. I think I loose a lot of time during my commute.
This time last year I was REALLY bored and worried, while I was still getting paid summer salary from the school, the last August paycheck was looming and no prospects.
Now I have 2 jobs and long to be bored.
Do you ever struggle to be honest? Wow, it is so easy and worldly-acceptable to just tell a lie. Every day at my job people suggest I fib a little, no big deal, here and there. I have to take a few hits now and then to avoid being dishonest.
Here's a fun idea. When somebody's really negative around you, bust out a line such as, "Gray skies are gonna clear up.. put on a happy face!!" and throw in some jazz hands. If they don't smile/giggle at that...
I was just telling Frederic tonight that I wonder when there will be a time when I have nothing to do. Maybe in like 30 years! I have a list that I can hardly even scratch anything off of it cause I've got another list that I'm working on!
no hail damage? i'm so glad cause that stuff was coming down!! thank you so much for going with us yesterday. it was a lot of fun and i could not have made it through the day without you reading my mind the whole time. :) we'll plan another gathering soon!!
There really is something to be said about heaping hot coals.
Maybe it's for the wrong reasons, but I feel really happy when I am really sweet to somebody who's just a meanie for no apparent reason.
Like when I call to a hospital billing service at work to inquire why we haven't gotten the bill we ask for (so they can ultimately get paid) and the customer service lady is rude. I have learned that replying, "Hey, I'm going to hang up now, I hope your day gets better," makes me feel good and that bill magically appears in my fax in box within a couple of hours.
Or like just now when I got a response from a vacation rental inquiry, the person laughed at my budget and said good luck. I told her thank you and added, "good luck renting out your unit." Now, what I wanted to say was, "Next time just don't respond if you don't like the numbers," or "A simple no thank you we're not in your budget will suffice."
Ohh, I hear Bear Grylls on the tv, I must go see what crazy environment he's surviving.
You are so right. My girls think it's so cool to wave at everyone in the store or in other cars, etc. When people don't wave back or smile at Noelani she asks why they are mean. I always tell her that sometimes people aren't too happy or they are having a bad day and maybe her wave or smile might make them feel better. The world is full of unhappy people.
Would LOVE to see you guys. You haven't met Maleia yet either. This will be a treat because Katheryn and the gang are coming down to Tampa in August to have a quick visit. Two of my girls in a couple weeks. HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!
we need to plan a weekend gathering. my parents are moving to Texas next month, so maybe we can do it before they leave. and we can go shopping at H&M. :) i miss you!
what in the world do you owe me a meal for?? the Shakespeare Festival is doing West Side Story next month. We're going to try to get tickets. Should we look for four?
Okay, for some reason I didn't have you on my friends list. And it's not like I have a hundred friends so I didn't notice. So if you visited my blog and didn't see your name there don't think I don't love you! Luke's birthday is coming up and we are having a party for him on 4th of July weekend. But it's up here in Hiawassee and you may already have plans for that weekend. I'm going to send you the invitation anyway! Hope you can make it! If not us and the hubbies will have to get together again sometime soon. In your area if need be.
*sigh* if only that dream were reality... i could use a trip to europe. oh, and i have BIG NEWS for you. i'll call you later. you're going to laugh. hysterically.
hey! i didn't forget about you, but you are in church an hour before me, and when i got home it was after 10 your time and i didn't want to wake you. i'll call you tomorrow night though.
Happy's Mother's Day's to all you mommies out there.
This morning at church and Friday at work I noticed a certain awkwardness to everyone as they went around saying Happy Mother's Day to all the females. When they got to me they said, how are you or have a good weekend! HA! I'm living it up.
School's out for summer! I was pretty ready to bid farewell to most of my students this semester. I only failed when necessary.
Well nobody answered my last question but we're working on house projects with our Chinese money! Just bought the tile for the kitchen and now the search for labor begins.
I have begun a crackdown on unhealthy eating habits. I am reading a book called "The Sonoma Diet." I started last week and so far, it's great. I read several books and this one seemed like the healthiest, practical, best choice for me. I am eating SO many veggies and nothing processed at all, only lean protein and no sugar. I feel great and have a lost a few pounds so far. It's a great book and very educational as I never really understood why certain foods are bad for you.
So, my challenge to everyone is to read labels this week. Don't buy or eat anything that contains the words (ingredients) enriched or hydrogenated. It's hard at first but you will be happy in the end.
Have a good week!
Thanks for the challenge. We already eat very healthy (no sugar, hydrogrnated, etc.) but every now and then we get alittle naughty when it comes to a snack! Happy Not Mother's Day to you!
working on the eating habits here too. I wish I could credit my personal desire for health and betterment, but really, it's motvated by the pregnancy. Isn't it crazy that we sometimes do better on behalf of others than we will do for ourselves? :)
