The u.s is in huge financial trouble and its going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Massive inflation is coming because of bailouts.
Gold is historically money. by the constitution Gold and Silver should be our currency or backing our currency. We have too high national debt. We can't afford to pay for our debt. The dollar is the reserve currency around the world, so other countries have lots of dollars. This is good until our government just prints money and devalue's the currency. Then other countries will get rid of our dollar. Then you have a dollar collapse.
How is the country paying for the 700b bailout and all the other bailouts? Is the next president going to raise taxes to pay for it? NO WAY. They are going to print the money by issueing treasury bills. Every time they lower interest rates and issue treasuries they devalue your dollar and my dollar creating inflation. Thus anything not tied to the U.S currency ie dollars is going to be safer. Gold is the safest. It doesn't matter if your stocks go up 12% per year if our money is devalued at the same or faster rate.
Oh and you cannot believe the government inflation numbers they are bunk. Their numbers don't include Energy Prices or Food cost. Real inflation is about 15% right now.
Yeah I am suggesting physical gold that you can hold. bullion, coins. You have to think of it in terms of Value not how many dollars you have. What is your dollar worth compared to things that cost money. who cares if you have 10000 invested and make 1000 per year if the price of milk goes up to $20 a gallon. Gold holds value when other currencies are being devauled by the government printing more. consider this - if there are 100 dollars in our financial system and the government prints 10 dollars your money is worth 10% less. Gold cannot be printed or created for bailouts by some government.
You obviously haven't pulled up your account statement today. How many days does it take. U.S economy has been contracting for some time. The numbers you are looking at is the GDP which is provided for by our government and it includes american spending which it used to not include. In the great depression it took people relatively all of their adult lives to make up the money that they lost. We were a creditor nation back then and now we are a huge debtor nation. I see no reason why it won't be worse than the great depression. Tell me one sector of the economy that is growing? Housing, autos, financials, retail.... all crashing. what else is there. Don't listen to the media or our government. I am saying to buy a little to just protect yourself. But I wouldn't own any U.S stocks right now. Go into a coin shop there and ask them about Gold. They will tell you it is almost impossible to keep in the store because it is being bought up like crazy. regarding your fund FID contra in 30yrs it might have avg 12% but do you want to be in there for the next 5 yrs where it avg's negative 90%? no. I don't know what your fund will do but its in the dollar and the value of the dollar will collapse 70-90% until we get rid of the federal reserve and stablize things.
Notice the chart. Greenspan started debasing our currency by lowering interest rates and selling treasuries back in 2001 because of the recession. Basically what happened was when he did that he created the Housing bubble because money was so easy to come by. Yes you are right. Gold should be increasing by the rate of inflation. The problem is the price of gold can be manipulated by the commodities market. I believe this is happening right now by our government. I think our government is trying to prevent the rise in gold because it would look like the dollar is worthless and create a panic. Notice everything being said by anyone in high power is that "the system is stable" Banking is fine, our economy is strong. What would they say if the economy was not stable? or if the financial system was not stable? NO WAY would they announce that on TV. In fact I believe the only reason they would announce that everything is "stable" is because there is in fact disaster. I cannot explain the dollar at a high. its being manipulated. You tell me one good reason the dollar is at a high. everything is going wrong right now, why would it be at a high?

Warren Buffett didn't buy direct stock he bought Preferred shares which have a great advantage if the company goes bankrupt and they pay a 10% dividend. Anyway If i had a gun to my head and was asked to pic something that I was going to hold for 50years and not change it would be a China fund. They are in the same position we were in the early 1900's. They have tons of manufacturing, technology, free market. General rule is true that of course you want to buy low but its different this time. Its going to take sooo many years to come back because we do not have a presidential candidate for true reform. U.S has no chance for atleast 5years to recover. McCain is about to socialize housing and then watch out.

That is a really good point. And really, that is what this whole election boiled down to. McCain nominated Palin & outside of that, he did nothing to fire up his base, or fire up anyone else for that matter. Oh well, I don't think Obama will run the country into the ground, or I hope not at least. And as a republican, I am ready to see some big time reform in the republican party. No one wanted to say it, but most conservatives were trying to be excited about a complete dullard who wasn't a true conservative anyway.

Sunday I am driving home from church and here an announcement about a contest to create a music video. Brad Paisley is sponsering the contest and is offering free round trip tickets to any of his concerts for the winner of the contest. So natuarly I pick up the camera and start to filiming.
So in two days with the help of my friend Taylor we have created what is most likely the funniest Music Video of all time. Take a look. The judging begins tomorow and the winner will be announced live on YouTube July 31st!!
