1. I do not have a toenail on my right big toe. I dropped a glass on it back in July and it is yet to grow back. I know this is gross but, it is a fact and very random!
2. My dream job is to be a police woman!
3. I transferred colleges 4 times before I graduated.
4. My biggest weakness is my temper...and my mouth. Like her, I stayed in trouble when I was in school and living at home because I could not keep my mouth shut and would "back-talk" my parents ALL the time.
5. I love beef jerkey!
6. I am very OCD about cleaning. I can not stand for things to be out of place or untidy.
7. I LOVE to shop but, I think most of you know this! :)
8. I had 18 people in my high school graduating class.
I remember when Ryan was a cop and you loved the stories and you told me you'd like to be a policewoman. I'm not sure you would enjoy the academy! :) Now did your back talk ever get you slapped while you were driving? I didn't share that but my mom slapped me while driving. I deserved it.
Well, as most of you know, I like to plan ahead! This past week, I have started thinking about what WE can dress up as for our annual Halloween party. And after much contemplation...I am still CLUELESS! I am so not creative! However, I really want to be something really good. I have been trying to think of something that the 3 of us could do together and I've asked around and have had some good suggestions (The Rubbles, popeye and olive oyl, pries and nun, mickey and minnie, raggedy ann and Andy, Gilligan's Island people, sonny and cher) but, most of the costumes online are not very "appropriate" (if you know what I mean) and I'm just not that creative/talented enough to actually make it (I know that may shock some of you since my sewing skills are so good...HA). So, I guess I'm asking for any suggestions/advice that any of you might have on costume ideas. Please help!
Oh, and several of you have asked how the "passy situation" is going. It is actually going very well. We decided to take Landon's passy away except for in the bed and in the car seat. We will try this for a couple of months and then eventually take it away completely. We started this last Monday and he did great all week...not once did he get it any other time. So, for his prize, we took him to Chuck-E-Cheese yesterday! He loved it! Neither Mike nor I had been since we were little so, it was...interesting! Landon had a blast and talked about it all night.
One funny story before I go. This morning, Landon was completely dressed in his adorable Alabama football smocked Jon Jon (you would love it, Becky!) and Mike was drying his hair. Well, Landon was standing on his stool beside the toilet. We usually ALWAYS have the toilet lid down so that Landon isn't tempted to play in it. Well, as he is standing on the stool, he decides do sit down on the toilet. BUT, the lid was up for some reason and he fell right into the potty! This is what I hear from my bedroom, "Landon no, Landon, Landon, Landon, Landon, Whoooooaaaaaa." By the time I got in there, Mike had pulled him completely out but, said it was hilarious b/c he was completely in a "v" shape in the toilet...all you could see was he head and feet. Well, he HAD to wear the cute Jon Jon to church so, I just tossed it in the dryer and put it back on him! Fortunately the potty was clean!
My parents went as dalmatians one year. They just bough white sweat pants/shirt and Mom cut out black, felt spots to stick all over. The only "tricky" part may be making the "hat" that was white and had black ears on them (they tied around their neck to keep it on). And they painted their faces to go along. You could be a cop who's arrested Mike. There's always a doctor & nurse & Landon could be your patient. Good luck!
The weekend was great but we missed you guys! Technically it should only take 4 hours, but since we were traveling with Lydi & Emma it took closer to 5 since we stopped to feed them & Emma is potty-training. If Landon is a good traveler though, like Emma (minus potty-training), 4 hours should be all.
I have no ideas. You should ask Amanda though. When I read the story about Mike I thought you were saying he was blow drying his hair! That made me laugh as much as Landon falling in the toilet. Good job Landon with his passy. And how fun - chuck e cheese! Our kids still have not gone there!
We went to a carnival last weekend and it was shocking how much it cost to buy tickets! Ridiculous! But we were already there and had looked at all the rides. Thankfully we had some friends there that we split the cost of tickets with!
My husband and I were Jack and Jill one year. All we did was get some of the fake blood and black and blue paint. He put the fake blood and "Bruises" on our faces, and on old t-shirts--we "fell down the hill." We rubbed dirt all over our clothes, and I ruffled my hair up and put leaves in it. We carried a pail, and Jason wore a broken "crown." It was a hit and very cheap, although we did have to explain when we first got to the party.
I also lack creativity with costumes, so I feel your pain :) One year, my brother's family went to a party as a Pumpkin patch - it was really cute.
Poor Landon in the toilet - that's hilarious!! Oh, and we went to Chuck E Cheese's for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was a riot :)
Poor Landon!! I've been amazed that Evie hasn't fallen in herself!! Hmmm, could you go as some Dr. Seuss characters?? I remember you saying how much Landon loved Sesame Street, if you went as characters? The Adams Family? I'm no good at this either!
Hey Christie!! So great to see you on here! That story is hilarious! Good luck with your costumes...if I could think of any good ones, I'd use them myself!! ;)
So good to talk to you too! I miss you guys! Gotta go - I have to teach a ladies bible class in 20 minutes. Thankfully we are only 5 minutes from the building!
I saw some college football was still on when I got home last night. We just want to get through football season to basketball season. I know that makes you sad! :)
I didn't know 'Bama had the 12 championship history, if I had known that, I might not have started the trash talking, b/c I've had a gut feeling I should fear Saban.
Well, Mike and I are finally talking about getting rid of Landon's passy. I DREAD this! However, I want to accomplish this before we move him into a "big boy bed" which I would like to do by Christmas. So, this morning we were talking to Landon about giving all of his passies to a new baby at church. He calls her Baby Lilly. He was doing okay until we told him that meant no passy at bedtime. He thought about it for a minute and then said, "Mama, I can't go to sleep without my passy, you Silly Goose!" I have to say that Mike and I were cracking up. It was like he was thinking we were crazy for even thinking that was a possibility! That is our funny story for today. Hope you all have a great week!
Good luck! I feel your pain! I hope he doesn't resent Baby Lilly if he thinks she took all his passies! :) What a cute, smart little boy you have. We cut the tip off Luke's paci and gave it to him and he told us it was broken and he didn't want it. (We kept an extra handy during the process!) It was rough for a few weeks but when he would ask for it we would give him the "broken" one.
Emma wasn't too attached, Lydia is, I'm dreading the process w/ her. She has slowly gotten rid of her addiction to have one in mouth & one in hand at ALL TIMES.
Good luck with the removing of the pacifier, you silly goose! ; ) I don't know when we'll be up that way again, but Emily, Amanda, and I already started talking about our next roomie reunion being in Thomasville next year. : )
...he gets Strep Throat. Yep, Landon has strep. I noticed Saturday night that he was a little whiny but, didn't really think anything about it. Then, he wouldn't eat any of his breakfast Sunday morning but, I still didn't think anything about it because he was still acting normal. But, when his teacher brought him to us after Bible class, and said "I don't think Landon feels well. He is hot and wouldn't answer any questions." I knew something was wrong. By the Lord's Supper, he was burning up and shiverring in my lap. So, we left services early to get him home. By mid-afternoon, his fever reached 103 and we decided to call the dr. Of course, they wanted us to come in so, we did and sure enough, he has strep. He is doing much better now but, he was pretty pitiful the first couple of days. His throat still must be hurting pretty bad because sometimes when he eats, he grabs is throat and cries "boo boo mommy. I need medicine!" It is still really hard for him to swallow. Hopefully, he will be back to normal by the end of the week.
Besides getting Strep, Landon's first day of school went pretty good. All week, he had been telling us that he was going to school and mommy was going to go home. However, on the way to school, he decided that he didn't want me to leave and started saying "Mommy stay too." We walked in and went to his classroom. As soon as he saw the door, he ran right in. I was in the hall hanging his backpack up and noticed he was playing so, I told the teacher I was going to go ahead and go. Well, I was just leaving when I hear him screaming and he darted out the door calling me. So, I of course couldn't leave that. I hugged him and told him bye and left him in the arms of his teacher. I stepped just around the corner and stood there and cried! Several moms stopped just to give me a hug and several teachers said "You don't know how many mamas I have seen come around this corner and cry...this must be your first." I finally got okay and one of my good friends from church got there to drop off her son. She went in to check on Landon and he was fine. So, then we left and went consignment shopping...with no kiddos! I couldn't wait to pick Landon up. As soon as I got to his door, he turned and saw me. He looked across the room at me and started running to me and said "Hey Baaaaaaaaaaby!" We were so happy to see each other. Overall, it turned out to be a good first day of school. He talked about it for several days and was so excited about the work he brought home to us. Hopefully, he won't get sick every week! :)
That stinks that he got strep! I'm glad he's doing better, though. I really miss you...I got spoiled getting to see you twice in a few months time. I think we may need to make a weekend trip to B'ham sometime. : )
He called you "Hey baby!" That is too cute! Hopefully he'll feel better by Friday. He looks so small with his backpack on. I can't believe he's going to school! Are you glad its just one day a week? So glad I got to talk to you yesterday. Sorry it was cut short. Love you!
school for babies need those window mirror things where the kid can't see the parents but the parents can see the kids to make that first day go by easier on us.
I meant to ask you if you'd had those taken. I would love to have one and I'll definately send you one. I just need to get some stamps... Hey, is Landon potty trained? I was wondering about that since he's going to school. I didn't know if at his age they required that yet. And you'd never mentioned it so I wasn't sure.
I read your post on Becky's blog about putting stuff off...does that include adorable 2-yr. pictures (I may have missed that part)? And she took my comment about the bowl cut. : (
Well I thought you would have told me if you'd ventured into potty training! Ryan is funny because he'll ask me sometimes when we are going to move Lily to a bed and I'm so not in a hurry for that. Luke was moved around her age but it was bc we wanted him used to a bed long before Lily came. I'm just not in a rush since there's no baby to replace her in it. And the same thing with the paci. I wanted him used to not having it since his sister would have one and that would be difficult to take his and let her keep hers (then she never ended up taking one!). I have heard of schools requiring 2 year olds to be potty trained and I always thought that might be difficult.
he's such a handsome boy! I teared up thinking about you having to drop him off. You did great though. I had one parent stay with her child for 30 minutes bc she kept screaming and I teach 1st grade!
