ALIVE. STOP. JUST TALKED TO HIM. STOP. HE'S OK. STOP. HE LIVES IN HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA. STOP. HE GOES TO CHURCH WITH RACHEL'S FAMILY. STOP. HE WILL BE INVENTING A CAR ENGINE THAT RUNS ON WATER AND JUST WILL NOT STOP. STOP.
Good. Come to my Chick Singer Night show Thursday 7pm. And come to the Peats' on Friday for a huge B'wood cookout including 18-ft inflatable waterslide for kids of all ages (under 25 lbs that is).
1. WRITE MY THESIS (perhaps its placement as #1 and the use of all-caps emphasizes a certain importance to this one)
2. Research possible schools for further edumacation
3. Exercise
4. Summer job (Upward Bound)
5. Do a whole bunch of reading on composition and rhetoric (this has a short-term goal of preparing me for a lengthy exam this December; but it has a much greater goal, in terms of my future job, in sight, too)
My first semester of teaching Intro Comp came to a glorious end yesterday afternoon, with student presentations and an assortment of student donated goodies for one all.
All that awaits me now are 41 research papers and 41 final papers to grade.
I -- you -- shall be teaching Espanol this summero.
"What? Do you know Spanish?"
No. Well, as someone who knows Spanish might say, "mas o menos." [Translation: more or less. I think.] I have taken three years in high school and 3 1/2 years in college; I also worked for a year with Mexican immigrants while doing landscaping. Pero [but] yo [I] no conosco [don't know] mucho [much] Espanol [Spanish]. I made C's in high school and B's and A's in college -- but the A's were kind of "gimmes" -- truthfully or "verdad."
"Why in the world are you teaching Spanish?"
Um, well, I went in for a job teaching reading (English) and came out with a job teaching reading (English) and...teaching Spanish.
"So what will you teach them?"
Not sure yet. I'm thinking we'll do lots of field trips to Mexican restaurantes (sp?).
Here is a video that captures my "talent" with Spanish:
No, we're worshiping at Woodland Hills. We just visited Brentwood the other night to see an old friend from out-of-town. Congrats on your job teaching Spanish! Where are you teaching? Are you still living in my old apartment complex? Ryan & I would love it if you came and hung out with us sometime! He just got a recurve bow that I'm sure he'd love to shoot with you!
Yeah, Shane is still here. He does an AWESOME job!!! Ryan loves Vandy. He's learned an incredible amount this past year. It's not always very fun for him though. Especially recently during finals.
