so i've been in college exactly 1 month and 5 days today. THAT feels really weird to say. But, all things considered i'm having a blast! I've met more people than I ever thought I could possibly meet, learned that grocery shopping takes MONEY, decided that home cooked meals are soo underrated, and have grown to appreciate the feeling of getting just 1 piece of mail in my p.o. box. :) It's the little things in life right? :)
so i figured since everyone else is coming back from the dead and giving an update of the last 5 years i might as well do the same.
I GRADUATED! surprise!! haha. i gotta say...i've waited 13 years to be able to say that...and now that's it's here. it just seems weird.
heres to the end of a beginning. :)
i like, every other graduate, attended my first college orientation. and let me tell you what...i got orientated like no other freshman. my head hurt from all the information overload by the time i got home. but somehow i successfully signed up for my first semester freshman classes. 15 hours. doable.
i also went on a family vacation to Charleston, South Carolina. This vacation was definitely my favorite by far of any family vacation...and coincidentally it was probably one of the last. We had a blast though! We hit 3 beaches, the USS Yorktown, an awesome fondue restaurant, a German bakery, learned about the art of sweetgrass basket weaving, went shopping in the downtown market, went to a park...can't remember the name, ate at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. (the best seafood restaurant in the world!)had car trouble that didn't need to be fixed (ALMOST a big deal :) ) and made memories that will last a lifetime. I love my family!!
As part of my "get ready for college" routine, I've started trying to cook more. I've started cooking for Travis and Erin to practice, and the first dinner went without a hitch. So far I've made homemade peach pie and a pasta casserole. YUM? i think so. gourmet chef in the making ;)
Currently, I am on a roadtrip to Niagra Falls with my grandma (Baugay) and Leslie (my cousin). So far we stopped in Columbus, Ohio the first night, and we're in Cleveland, Ohio now. We stopped at the Longaberger Basket Company outside of Columbus and saw enough baskets to last me a lifetime. We also stopped at the pro football hall of fame in Canton, Ohio. I'm not even a pro football fan, but that place was awesome! Makes me even more excited about football season! ROLL TIDE! Oh, and we saw the name of Baugay's cousin V.T. Smith in the museum. He played pro football before they played superbowls and held a few records for a long time. cool, huh?
well...that's all i can think of for now. props to you if you read the whole thing. you must really care about my life...or be really bored. either way. you rock. :)
For all of those about to head off to college, remember who you are and who you are living your life to glorify. I love you all!
yay for...COMING BACK TO LIFE. GRADUATING. ORIENTATION. FAMILY VACATIONS. COOKING PEACH PIE. and boo for...NIAGRA FALLS. I miss you. :( come home ASAP!!!
join the club yo! cept somewhere along the line i went from poor college student to college dropout living with his parents and now back to aspiring college student. still poor.
I'll probably be down a million different times this summer. We'll find some time...it all really depends on my work schedule(Yuck :P)Have fun at orientation :)
Matthew 12: 36-37
"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Idle words are words that are meaningless and are of no real worth or importance. Our words can either be idle or meaningful. As we start a new year, let's all try to remember that people are listening to what we say.
Our words can either illustrate a postive or negative attitude toward life, our relationship with God as a joy or a burden, our lifes as either pure or tainted, our actions as either hypocritical or consistent, and our service to God as either sincere or a facade.
Hi Alisha! I am assuming you are the Alisha I wanted to write. I think my husband found you on here right after your brother's wedding. I am Jeannie, the flower girl's mom. My son, Benjamin, tried emailing Melissa but hasn't heard from her. Would you check to see if she got it? We may have not remembered the address right. Please tell her Ben is not stalking her, just wanting a friend! His address is benlovestrains@earthlink.net. Thanks! So glad to have met you and your family! You and your sisters are beautiful girls!
Thank you! I have just gotten started on my blog, but I am loving it! I even have a friend in Prague who I have re-connected with. Glad to chat with you!
Have you seen the professional pictures? They are fantastic! I love them all! It really walks through the entire day's events. We may order one of the professional shots of Emily looking up at Erin.
Hey, Would you mind emailing your family's mailing address to me at mjcbalentine@earthlink.net? I think Benjamin wants to mail a card to Melissa. He is really getting a kick out of emailing her! A Valentine's card from a certain Balentine seems appropriate, don't you think???
Thanks, girl. I really appreciate it. It's been really hard emotionally, but I've been trying to keep a happy attitude as much as possible. Thanks for the encouragement :]
