Today is Veterans Day and I hope we will all think of the Veterans who were willing to serve our Great Country, sometimes under difficult circumstances. Many were willing to give the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives so that we may remain free people.
My mother was an only child for 11 years and she had a cousin about her age who was like a brother to her. He was a pilot in WWII and was killed when his plane went down. His parents wanted her to have the telegram they received telling them of his death (this is how the military informed familes of lost love ones during the war).
The first picture is of him, Lieutenant Willie C. Voigt, Jr. and the second picture is the telegram his family received.

My uncle worked for western union in Illinois. He served in WW2 and made it safely back home. However, in the mid eighties, we received a western union telegram that looked much like that one from his family telling us that he had died.
BTW, Don't know who that guy is either, but he's not me! He must have slipped in you dad's back door one day looking for something to eat.... :-)
