P.S. I got a job. I start on January 7. I will be working for a litigation firm in Birmingham, Lloyd, Gray & Whitehead. It is exactly what I was looking for and a tremendous blessing. Thanks for the prayers.
I'd probably vote for Obama. Congrats on your job! I'll be interested to hear what you think of it, since I'll (hopefully) be in the same market in a few years.
Hey Aaron, I just bought an external hard drive for my music and other docs. But I am alittle affraid of just transfering all of my music over their and what will happen to the... continuity of the conection between itunes and the actual files that hold the library. I tried to call you, but I think I have an old number. If you can give me a call or send me an email.
In case anyone was curious, my birthday is November 14th - TODAY. I usually keep quiet about it, but I thought I would play it differently this year.
In other news - Does anyone have any advise about how to clean taco soup out of a car? Rachel volunteered to make taco soup for the young married couple's class last night. We decided to run the crock pot full of hot soup over to the host's house before services. The car in front of me stopped at the yellow light. I swerved to miss. Physics dictated that taco soup should leave the crock pot and land on the car floor, as well as my leg. Did I mention that it was hot?
Anyway, now the LRB smells like Taco Soup, which is not ideal. Hopefully it is a fixable problem, because I imagine that odd smells diminish the resale value.
Rachel and I are coming soon, for a limited engagement. We are going to a concert on Thursday night (at the Ryman...where else?). Friday will be devoted to seeing old friends and possibly making new ones. If anyone who used to know me would like to eat dinner with me and my wife on friday night, let me know via email, telephone, pleonast, facebook, telepathy etc.
It would be great if all of the people interested in this offer would be able to go to dinner as one group. I can only eat so many dinners.
Unfortunatley, we have to leave Friday night, as Rachel is working early Saturday morning.
awwww...I could SOOO almost do that! I'm off Friday, but I have to work Sat at 8 am, and I'd have to leave and come back in the same day. BUMMER! Let me know if y'all ever plan on coming a little further north! :) hope ya have a great weekend!
I really think someone should make a comic book where Jack White (White Stripes) and Jack Black (Tenacious D) are arch-enemies, fighting for control of the universe. Someone with artistic talent and story-telling creativity should get on that project immediately.
P.S. I passed the bar. Quick question...does my being an actual lawyer give more or less credibilty to my often times inane ramblings on this blog?
I am really enjoying my job in Montgomery. I'm working for Justice Tom Parker on the Alabama Supreme Court. The commute - 1+ hour each way get old, but they have been flexible. Most weeks I only go Monday-Thursday. They are also very open to me leaving early for a permanent law position in Birmingham.
On that front, I have two possible leads. Both of them are relatively small defense firms. One of them is downtown, and the other is right around the corner in Hoover. Please pray for me, that one or both of these opportunities comes through. Either would really be a blessing for Rachel and me.
Marriage -
Married life is awesome. My standard of living has increased exponentially now that I'm living with a girl. I don't generally go for sappy expressions of emotion, so I will stop this portion of the update here.
Apartment -
We are happy with the apartment. The ant invasion that led to the previous post seems to be under control.
Baseball -
The Astros are not any good.
Interesting Tomato Tidbit (care of Wikipedia) -
In 1887, U.S. tariff laws that imposed a duty on vegetables but not on fruits caused the tomato's status to become a matter of legal importance. The U.S. Supreme Court settled the controversy in 1893 by declaring that the tomato is a vegetable, based on the popular definition that classifies vegetables by use, that they are generally served with dinner and not dessert (Nix v. Hedden (149 U.S. 304)).
Praying for you about the J O B, you mentioned the defense, but no comment on their offense. Who the QB and are you on special teams? Good to hear that marriage is great. It seems that a woman while dangerous behind the wheel is just right. the invasion of your home could be worse, swat team for instance would be worse or a hoard of mexicans, that would be worse. ASTROS.. need i say more? And the tomato i just don't have the words, it was too complicated of a read.
