"piggy back posting"

well, sharon got her wish :-)

i just pushed the change to the server to go back to the p2 functionality of automatically showing the last 5 entries on a user's page instead of automatically going to the latest entry. it should be self explanatory, i just hope that the server survives - one of the biggest reasons i hadn't done this yet is because it definitely slows down the server since it has to pull 5x as much information each time you load the page. but so far it seems to be doing okay, so we'll just have to wait and see :-)

anyway, please do let me know if you find anything that goes wrong or doesnt work like it's supposed to!

    Oh, I hope it works. There seems to be a glitch with mine, though. Can we see older posts on others' but not on our own? I don't even have the option to go back to older posts unless I go to my entries page. What's up with that?

    ^^if you just 'add entry' it goes to a page with just that entry on it, without others. Just click on your screen name.

    I notice when I post a comment on a piggy post it takess me to the aforementioned entry page after I hit comment. Not a big deal but liked it better the old way.

    I think this has improved the usability for me tremendously. I understand the cost in performance, but if it's economical, this way is MUCH more friendly, imo.

    I guess I'm one of the few that liked the new, p3 style of things. If possible, I think using piggy-back posting should be optional. I think the p3 style of showing only the latest post my default was much cleaner.

    I did miss this feature, but if it's taxing on the server, why not make it a user option and allow us to set the number of posts shown (up to 5)?

    Thank you for putting this back. I hadn't mentioned it, but kept meaning to. Even then, I figured you had a fairly good reason for the change with p3. But I'm glad to have it back. I'm also enjoying comment editing, so, thanks for that, too. I know you work hard on this site and it shows.

    Most of the entries I read are through the recent entries page, which still load only one at first. Hopefully that will still help with the server load!
