user blocks

i just enabled user blocking. this is something i had avoided for several reasons, first of which is the fact that it's ultimately pointless since someone can just create a new account or come back not logged in. the moderation team suspends abusers as fast as we can, but this feature is mainly to allow you to block someone before the mod team has a chance to react. when you block a user, they will not be able to see any of your blogs/rooms/galleries/etc nor will they be able to send you messages. however, they can either logout or login as a different user and will be able to access everything as normal. (if you are a gold user, the standard privacy controls still apply)

to use the feature, simply go to the blog of the user you want to block and click on 'block user' in the sidebar.

the other reason why i had avoided doing this for so long is i'm a bit worried that people are going to start blocking each other and feelings will start getting hurt, but i'm leaving that up to you. with great power comes great responsibility.

Will blocking a user automatically notify the moderation team that something is awry, or should we still send you guys a message?

If someone is blocked, will they know other than attempting to view or send something to that other user?

Kennon, I am begging you - please let us show more than one post at a time! Or, institute a "static post" or "notification" type thing.

I have 100 people blocked on facebook but only ran into one or two weirdos on pleonast.

I don't usually have heated discussion on here but some of the political/religious groups can get pretty snippy to the point that they might block each other in an impulsive reaction. I guess that you can unblock as quick as you can block.

Thanks for this feature. Some people cannot get along and it is easier to ignore them when they can't comment on your page.
