"Like A Bird That Wanders From Its Nest"

“LIKE A BIRD THAT WANDERS FROM ITS NEST”

Proverbs 27:8
Man, the species – not the gender, has his place. God has ordained where man should be and it is dangerous to stray.

I. “A MAN WHO WANDERS FROM HIS PLACE” IN NATURE
A. Genesis 1:28; Romans 1:25; 2 Peter 3:7, 10
Man’s place in nature is at the top of God’s creation. We must not surrender the authority God has assigned us in dominion over the earth. It is sinfully idolatrous to worship and serve the creature rather than the Creator, but that’s what happens when man recognizes “Mother Nature” instead of “Father God”. The environmentalist agenda to “Save the Earth” is futile, for God will destroy the earth.
B. Genesis 1:25-26; 9:1-3; 1 Timothy 4:4; Acts 10:13; James 3:7
Man didn’t fight his way to the top of the food chain through millions of years of evolution; he was placed there by God at the beginning of time. The flesh of all other creatures was given by God to man as a food source, and there is no species whose life is more important than man’s nutrition. Not only for food, animals were also provided as beasts of burden and it is right that they have been tamed.
C. Genesis 1:27; 5:2
Man’s place in nature is in the gender in which he or she was made by God. Making man male and female was His doing and with that each one must be content. It’s disturbing we must even address this these days, but as public figures undergo so-called “gender reassignment” surgeries, it is important to realize such is an illusion. Cutting off parts or having parts sewn on doesn’t truly make a man a woman, or vice versa.
D. Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:9-11
Man’s place in nature is to be attracted to the opposite sex. To behave otherwise is contrary to the Lord’s will, being unnatural. Christians in Corinth included those who had once been homosexuals, but they changed. That change can occur proves homosexuality is not genetic.

II. “A MAN WHO WANDERS FROM HIS PLACE” IN THE HOME
A. Proverbs 6:23-29, 32; 7:21-23; 5:3-6, 15-20
Man’s place in the home is with the husband or wife to which he or she has been joined by God. To stray into the arms of a seductress is wicked and deadly.
B. 1 Corinthians 7:10-11; Matthew 19:4-6; Luke 16:18; Matthew 5:32
Man’s place in the home is to remain untied in marriage, for divorce is contrary to His will. Those who divorce must seek reconciliation, for that would repair the sundering of what God has joined, or at least remain unmarried. To marry again is adultery. Only fornication is proper grounds for divorce and subsequent remarriage.
C. 1 Corinthians 11:3, 9; Genesis 2:18-25; 3:16; Colossians 3:18
Man’s place in the home is a matter of leadership for the husband and submission for the wife. God made woman to help man, in the first place, then, in the curse, said he would rule over her.
D. Ephesians 5:25-29; 1 Peter 3:7; Titus 2:4; Ephesians 5:33
Husband and wife are both called on to love each other. He must honor her and she must respect him.
E. Genesis 3:17-19; Titus 2:5; 1 Timothy 5:14
Man’s place in the home is a matter of toil and sweat for the husband and homemaking for the wife.

III. “A MAN WHO WANDERS FROM HIS PLACE” IN THE CHURCH
A. Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Acts 2:41, 47b
Man’s place in the church is in the church! The church is the body of Christ, and Christ is “Savior of the body”. Those outside the church won’t be saved. Entrance into the church/body is through baptism.
B. Hebrews 10:23-25; Acts 2:42; John 20:24-25
Man’s place in the church requires attendance every time the church meets. Steadfast continuance in doctrine, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayers means showing up every time. Thomas is forever remembered as the doubter all because he missed one assembly.
C. Ephesians 3:21; Hebrews 13:5; Colossians 3:16
Man’s place in the church is to glorify the Lord. God didn’t build colleges, camps, retreats, missionary societies, or campus crusades for His glory; He built the church.
D. Ephesians 3:10-11; 1 Timothy 3:15; 1 Thessalonians 1:8
Man’s place in the church is to make known God’s wisdom. God didn’t build colleges, camps, retreats, missionary societies, or campus crusades to spread the Word; He built the church.
E. Ephesians 4:11-16; Romans 12:4-8
Every man has a place in the church, including evangelists, pastors, and teachers, but not just them. “every part does its share”!
F. 1 Timothy 3:1; Titus 3:8; 1:5; 1 Timothy 3:11; Titus 1:6; 1 Timothy 3:4-5; 1 Chronicles 22
Man’s place in the church is to provide for full leadership. Men ought to desire the qualifications and serve. Wives of such men must become qualified, too. Sons and daughters of such men must become qualified, too. Others should find support roles to fulfill in getting others ready for the work.
